Davida Martin is a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and Wake Forest University School of Law. Davida W. Martin retired after thirty years with the Forsyth County Attorney’s Office during which she served as Forsyth County Attorney for over twenty years. She was the first African American woman in the State of North Carolina to serve in the capacity of County Attorney. She and her staff were responsible for providing legal representation to the Forsyth County Government and Forsyth County Commissioners.

Ms. Martin is a member of local and state bar associations and the boards of the Senior Services Foundation (in Winston-Salem), the United Way of Greater Greensboro, and the Governor’s Council on Aging. She completed several years of service on the boards of The Winston-Salem Foundation and the Novant Forsyth Medical Center Foundation. She continues to serve on the Brenner Children’s Hospital Advisory Board. She is a graduate of Leadership Winston-Salem.

Davida is married to Dr. Harold L. Martin, Sr., Chancellor of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. They have two adult sons, Harold, Jr. (Kirstyn) and Walter, Sr. (Brittney). They are very proud of their five grandchildren.
